PRESERVATION OF THE UNIQUE RURAL HERITAGE AT
ETHNOGRAPHICAL MUSTEIKA VILLAGE. PHASE I

Total project cost: €538,925 (1'860'800 LTL)

Granted donation funds : €479,643 (1'656'112 LTL)

(partly supported from the 2009-2014 EEA and Norwegian financial mechanisms

 

Project completion date - extended to 30th April 2017.

 

Project's mission:

- Maintain, fix and preserve perishing ethnographic objects of rural wooden architecture;

- Encourage the preservation and foster traditions of wooden architectural heritage in an ethnographic village;

 

Project's activities:

Wooden architecture renovation works carried out in participating homesteads (a total of 40 objects, with 29 buildings among them).

Building works began in 2015, following the architectural design, technical documents' authorization and completion of public procurement procedures.

 

Along the project, a series of seminars and training on building repairs and maintenance, the use of traditional materials and construction methods were organized.

 

The publicity of the project was achieved through organized events and press releases about the project's implementation process.
